Preliminary programme of the 35th DOT

All programme information can be accessed via the conference planner. – IMPORTANT: If you wish to attend the conference, you must book your participation online via the booking platform in advance (only until 22 August 2025!) so that your conference badge can be issued – NO CONFERENCE BADGE, NO ACCESS TO THE CONFERENCE! Badges cannot be issued during the conference. Payment cannot be made on site!

The general meeting of the Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft will take place on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Senatssaal of the Kollegienhaus (room KH 1.011).

Various trips, e.g., to the Bamberg University Museum of Islamic Art and the Jewish Museum of Franconia in Fürth are planned as a supporting cultural programme. For more information see online programme.

Monday (7:15–8:00 p.m.), Wednesday (6:15–7:15 p.m.), Thursday (6:15–7:15 p.m.):

Guided tour (online registration required, limited to 30 people per tour):
‘Friedrich Rückert – World Poetry in Erlangen’ (Dr Johannes Wilkes, author and chairman of the Erlanger Rückert-Kreis e.V.) -> Start/end at the entrance to the Kollegienhaus, Universitätsstraße 15, 91054 Erlangen -> Fee: The €5 participation fee will be donated to Rückert-Kreis Erlangen e.V. Payment in cash directly before the tour.

Tuesday:

Guided tour (online registration required, limited to 30 people):
‘The history of the Erlangen Faculty of Philosophy during the Weimar Republic and National Socialism’ (Prof. Dr. Georg Seiderer, Modern Bavarian and Franconian Regional History and Folklore, FAU) -> Start of the tour at 6:15 p.m.: Margrave monument on Schlossplatz Erlangen (in front of the castle), end of the guided tour at 6:45 p.m.: KH 0.016 followed by a lecture

Wednesday:

Guided tour (online registration required, limited to 60 people):
A Franconian Jerusalem? History and present of Jewish life in Fürth -> Wed, 10 September 2025 from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. -> Meeting point: Jewish Museum of Franconia in Fürth, Königstraße 89 (main entrance, museum ticket office), 90762 Fürth -> Admission: €3 reduced (to be paid on site at the museum).

The Bamberg University Museum of Islamic Art will be open on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. especially for DOT 2025 conference participants:
Exhibition visit (no registration required): The Bamberg University Museum of Islamic Art (Bumiller Collection) before its reopening: Sneak preview for DOT Erlangen participants. -> Wed, 10 September 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. -> Meeting point: University Museum of Islamic Art, Austr. 29 (entrance on Hasengasse), 96047 Bamberg. Admission free.

Thursday:

A concert with Lia Pale and Mathias Rüegg based on the poetry of Friedrich Rückert will be held in the Orangerie on Thursday evening (Online booking through the registration portal). This concert is funded by the Kulturstiftung Erlangen.
Concert (online registration required, limited to 99 people, admission €25): ‘Songs based on texts by Friedrich Rückert’ (Lia Pale (vocals) and Mathias Rüegg (piano)) -> Doors open: 7:30 p.m., concert begins: 8:00 p.m. at the Orangerie, Wasserturmstraße 3, 91054 Erlangen
